Kamnik Winery embodies the essence of authentic tradition from the Republic of North Macedonia, blending the ancient spirits and rich soils of the country with a modern, sophisticated wine-making approach. Rooted in history and driven by innovation, the winery harmonizes tradition with cutting-edge techniques to create captivating and unique wine expressions. Each bottle reflects a heartfelt vision brought to life by a passionate team striving for perfection, seamlessly weaving local wine traditions with contemporary flair while preserving the spirit of ancient times.
Located in the Vardar River Valley, within the Skopje Wine Region, the Kamnik estate spans 17 hectares of vineyards, situated at 300 meters above sea level with a southward-facing slope. This unique position, influenced by surrounding mountains and the cooling Vardarec wind, creates an optimal microclimate for growing grapes by reducing summer evening temperatures and maintaining soil warmth during the winter. In addition, Kamnik’s second vineyard, comprising 22 hectares, sits at 550 meters above sea level in the Vojnica microlocation within the Veles Wine Region, further enhancing the terroir-driven character of their wines.
Both vineyards are cultivated using the latest clonal developments, with 5,500 vines per hectare, pruned using the single and double Guyot method. This meticulous cultivation process contributes to Kamnik’s production of world-class wines. The winery produces approximately 300,000 liters of wine annually, much of which is aged in new American and French oak barrels, imparting a harmonious balance of aroma, taste, and texture.
Kamnik’s wines have gained international acclaim, winning prestigious awards at renowned global wine competitions such as Decanter, Syrah du Monde, and Citadelles du Vin. These distinguished wines are featured on the wine lists of Michelin-starred restaurants, underscoring Kamnik Winery’s reputation for excellence on the world stage.
