Weingut Riffel Showcases Terroir Wines at Vinexpo Miami Beach: Binger Scharlachberg & Binger Kirchberg in the Spotlight

Bingen am Rhein, 29.4.2025 – At Vinexpo2025, Weingut Riffel will present its latest terroir-driven wines, focusing on the exceptional vineyard sites Binger Scharlachberg and Binger Kirchberg. These two prestigious locations showcase how soil composition and microclimate shape the character of a wine.

Binger Scharlachberg – Elegance on Yellow Quartzite with Slate Deposits

The Binger Scharlachberg is one of Rheinhessen’s most renowned vineyard sites. Its terroir is defined by yellow quartzite with fine slate deposits, which provides excellent heat retention, allowing for an extended ripening period and the development of complex, multi-layered wines.

“The wines from Scharlachberg impress with their precise minerality, delicate salinity, and remarkable length,” explains Erik Riffel. The Rieslings from this site stand out with their taut elegance, focused fruit expression, and subtle spiciness.

Binger Kirchberg – Cool Precision on Red Quartzite with Iron Oxide Deposits

A completely different terroir can be found at Binger Kirchberg, a cool east-facing site characterized by red quartzite with iron oxide deposits. This unique soil composition imparts a refined minerality, fresh elegance, and a distinctive spicy note to the wines.

“The Kirchberg wines captivate with their vibrant acidity, cool finesse, and subtle aromas of citrus, white flowers, and herbs,” says Erik Riffel. “They are delicate yet expressive, truly showcasing the strength of their extraordinary terroir.”

Exclusive Tasting at Vinexpo Miami Beach

Visitors to Vinexpo Miami Beach 2025 will have the opportunity to personally experience these expressive terroir wines at the Domaine Riffel stand. Erik Riffel will present the unique geological characteristics of Bingen and explain how they influence the style of the wines. Additionally, an exclusive limited edition of Scharlachberg and Kirchberg wines will be introduced for the first time.
